The Truth of the matter is . . .

I bet you’re wondering why I’m not posting every day, as usual, aren’t you?

Well, it’s only fair that I let you in on a little secret.

I. Lost. My. SD Card.  And, I’m freaking out.

There’s a lot of pictures of food on that card.  As a matter of fact, it’s even labeled on the back of the card with a black sharpie:

“FOOD”

So, I’ve been pretty stressed.  It’s hard to post recipes and pics when you don’t have your pics.

The good news is, I think I’ve figured out where I left it (on the table at the restaurant).  Tomorrow I’m going to call them and I really, really, really hope they have it.  If not, well, I guess I’ll just have to figure something else out.  Like a leash for my next SD Card.

Let’s all hope I’ll be back tomorrow - with a recipe!  Oh, by the way, that’s Aspie Girl up there.  Cute, huh?  :)

Meme? Who me?!?

I got tagged for my very first meme and I’m purdy darn excited.  Now, I know for those of you who have been around for a while, this is no big deal.  I even get the distinct impression that too many memes get a bit annoying.  BUT.  Today, I’m excited, so I’m going to get right to it.

Amy at Earnest Parenting tagged me for:

7 Interesting Things About Me

Hmm, this is going to be tough, isn’t it?  Naw, I love talking about me.  I could use all 7 points just to talk about the different health issues I have, but I won’t bore you that way.  I’ll bore you another way!!  Haha!

1.  I’m an only child and I married an only child.  I have seemingly deprived my children of Aunts and Uncles.

2.  I had a stroke when I was 29 years old.  I still can’t shuffle cards well, or pick up little things with my left hand.  It was caused by a blood clot from my birth control pills.

3.  I’m a germaphobe.  If you touch my straw or my food you get to keep it.  Bonus for you!

4.  I like to eat Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom soup.  Not as something you add to casseroles either, but just like the directions on the back of the can says:  “Add 1 can of water.  Heat.  Mix.”  ‘Cept, I prefer 1 can of milk.  Yum.

5.  Rachel Ray and Emeril bug me.  A lot.  Yeah, and Tom Cruise, he bugs me, too.  (Just thought I’d throw that in there about the couch jumper.)

6.  I was diagnosed as Bipolar when I was about 14 years old.  I’ve been stable and medication free for 8 years now.  I have ran support groups (IRL and Online) for adults with bipolar disorder and parents of bipolar children.  I educate myself and others about mental illness whenever I can.  I believe that the stigmas that surround mental illness will only improve if we continue to speak out about the “normal-ness” of being mentally ill.  I also am thrilled with the current trend of acceptance of depression and post-partum depression, but am anxious for acceptance to spread to schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and Anxiety Disorders.

7.  I have a freckle behind my ear.  I can’t see it, but when I was delivering Babs (via c-section) my hubby told me about it.  It completely helped me stop panicking at the time.  I still try to twist around in the mirror to catch a glimpse sometimes.

Whoops!  I almost forgot.  I tag Hubby , Sophia , and The Other Angie

Angie’s Pangies makes a change

Just a few short weeks ago I decided to take my blogging a lot more seriously.  The fact is, I know that there is something missing in my life.  My health keeps me from working regularly, or going back to school to finish my psychology degree - so work and school aren’t good options for feeling fulfilled.  Even though I care for my family and am completely happy with that role, I know that there is something about Angie Pangie that needs more exploration.  So, I started this blog.  I’ve had other blogs, but this blog was for exploring me; what am I good at, what do I do, what am I about.  And I started with cooking - I guess because I know it.  It’s comfortable, and I’m decent at it, and I enjoy it, most of the time.

It hasn’t taken me long to figure out a few things.

  • I really get off on having a reason to try out all these recipes.  I don’t have to have a dinner party on the docket to put together a middle of the day Angel Food Cake.
  • I’m getting a lot more done in my kitchen because I actually have a reason (beyond dinner) to set a goal of what to make.
  • My most favorite part of cooking is doing it for others; that is, to enjoy their company, to bring them together with food . . . to celebrate friends, life, and every day.

So, this blog is making a change.  Honestly, you probably aren’t going to notice much different, but in my mind, it’s a lot different.  First off, this blog is, first and foremost, a food blog.  Don’t get me wrong, you’re still going to hear about hubby, Z-DOW, Aspie girl, Babs Bunny, my magazine habits, and what I do on the weekends - which is pretty much exactly the way it already is.

What will be a teensy bit different is that I am going to use this blog to do what I do best.  Celebrate.  Sometimes I’ll be celebrating something like Valentine’s Day.  Other days it will be lighter, like for instance, today is “Spunky Old Broads Day” here in the US (seriously, it is).  So sometimes it will be fun, other times it will be more serious, but always - it will be celebrating each and every day.

I will also continue to post a recipe nearly everytime I post.  Recipes will usually be tied to the celebration and hopefully - you’ll be able to use them to celebrate with your own friends and family.

The article side of Angie’s Pangies will continue to be populated with recipes, both the ones I put here on the blog, and others that I’m not blogging about.  My goal is to have a sizeable database of recipes.  I use my laptop for almost all my recipes, so it’s actually really nice (for me) to have them all in one central location (not here, there, and on 400 little scraps of paper).  So we both benefit from that project.

Thank you for taking this journey of self exploration with me.  I’m really looking forward to a long and happy relationship with my readers.  Later today, watch for another great Superbowl recipe.
