Angie’s Pangies makes a change

by Angie on February 1, 2008

Just a few short weeks ago I decided to take my blogging a lot more seriously.  The fact is, I know that there is something missing in my life.  My health keeps me from working regularly, or going back to school to finish my psychology degree – so work and school aren’t good options for feeling fulfilled.  Even though I care for my family and am completely happy with that role, I know that there is something about Angie Pangie that needs more exploration.  So, I started this blog.  I’ve had other blogs, but this blog was for exploring me; what am I good at, what do I do, what am I about.  And I started with cooking - I guess because I know it.  It’s comfortable, and I’m decent at it, and I enjoy it, most of the time.

It hasn’t taken me long to figure out a few things.

  • I really get off on having a reason to try out all these recipes.  I don’t have to have a dinner party on the docket to put together a middle of the day Angel Food Cake.
  • I’m getting a lot more done in my kitchen because I actually have a reason (beyond dinner) to set a goal of what to make.
  • My most favorite part of cooking is doing it for others; that is, to enjoy their company, to bring them together with food . . . to celebrate friends, life, and every day.

So, this blog is making a change.  Honestly, you probably aren’t going to notice much different, but in my mind, it’s a lot different.  First off, this blog is, first and foremost, a food blog.  Don’t get me wrong, you’re still going to hear about hubby, Z-DOW, Aspie girl, Babs Bunny, my magazine habits, and what I do on the weekends - which is pretty much exactly the way it already is.

What will be a teensy bit different is that I am going to use this blog to do what I do best.  Celebrate.  Sometimes I’ll be celebrating something like Valentine’s Day.  Other days it will be lighter, like for instance, today is “Spunky Old Broads Day” here in the US (seriously, it is).  So sometimes it will be fun, other times it will be more serious, but always – it will be celebrating each and every day.

I will also continue to post a recipe nearly everytime I post.  Recipes will usually be tied to the celebration and hopefully – you’ll be able to use them to celebrate with your own friends and family.

The article side of Angie’s Pangies will continue to be populated with recipes, both the ones I put here on the blog, and others that I’m not blogging about.  My goal is to have a sizeable database of recipes.  I use my laptop for almost all my recipes, so it’s actually really nice (for me) to have them all in one central location (not here, there, and on 400 little scraps of paper).  So we both benefit from that project.

Thank you for taking this journey of self exploration with me.  I’m really looking forward to a long and happy relationship with my readers.  Later today, watch for another great Superbowl recipe.

Hear, hear!

I’ve always loved the fact that our guests never leave hungry, and they never leave dissatisfied with the quality of the food. I tell them that I’m the luckiest dude in the world to get to eat your cooking all the time. Even when you’re trying new recipes, you’ve got an eye for it; rarely is a new recipe a stinker, and it’s always even better after you’ve tinkered with it.

I love you, Angie.
